can anyone offer first hand experience with this bullet.
description, waterline ability,loads relative to sierra 142, etc?

Hi Bruce
I use the Lapua 144fmj every now and then at longer ranges and have had quite good results.
I have heard from other people that they were not happy with them, I think you will have to test them yourself.
They have a BC of .635 I think and my load for a 260REM is 42.6 of ADI 2209, a mid load, primer is CCI, elevation at 1st was not good untill I had a load to work with also my cases are 308 necked down with no neck trim.
I have not used 142 sierra so I cant comment but they are almost as good as 139scanner with my rifle & load.

I believe its the ability to hold constant elevation, so if there is wind variation you may end up with a group of shots on a narrow horizontal band (or waterline).

thanks for answering j.b's question.
you said it more precisely than i could have!
the reason i am interested in this pill is that, having read graham mincham's book "long range rifle accuracy", it seems that it could have a centre of gravitymore forward than a hollow point with a hollow cavity up front, thus making it more stable in flight. :idea:

a moot point if grouping (waterlining) ability is insufficient.

unfortunately fmj's are banned on some ssaa ranges.

I've never had a problem , but remember it is only a side line business. They are running a multi million dollar tile place. I mainly just phone as I prefer that way.
