I take it you have shot some F/TR rifles before now?? Theres a few different design ideas around. Weight distribution is important I think. Get the weight in the right place to mitigate recoil. I favour heavy barrel, light stock and action. It certainly worked well for me when I shot F/TR up until 2020.

I second those sentiments. Heavier the better when it comes to barrel. Won't need a 32" unless you're planning to shoot match rifle. 30" will do out to 1000 yards. Best bet is to shoot a few FTR rigs and see what you like. They are a different animal compared to open and standard guns. Good luck and have fun.

Ok Thanks , for the input,
no i have not shot any ftrs , i own and have shot an old OMark 308 with peep sights.
The reason behind my planned build specs is just what i have gathered by reading this and other forums.
Hense action choice of
Barnard s- Action
Barrel blank i have is 32 inch medium palma so yeh would probably end up 30 ?
Trigger ?
stock?
scope & bipod will come later .
My main goal was to get a set up that would hopefully be my forever rig . my understanding from what i have read , was a Barnard s- action as its lighter and would be more suitable for say a 30 inch for keeping the weight down and within limit. i dont know thats the conclusion i got from reading posts etc here and elsewhere .
Cheers S

I would go and try shoot a bunch of different F/TR rifles before you build one. Trust me. I built 2 guns in one year. My first build was very similar to Jason Mayers rifles which work very well. Thats based on a Barnard P. My 2nd build I wanted to try a few things out so built pretty much what I listed below. It was a very controllable rifle and shot very very well.

If you want my build choice (which happens to be very similar to Barrossa_222) its this:
Stolle Panda F-Class Dual Port
Jewel HVR Trigger
Minimum HV contour, I used to run 1.25in Paralells
Lightweight stock such as Kelblys 1M or KTS OR a lightweight wood stock.
NF Comp 15-15x52
SEB JoyPod.

But as I said, go shoot a bunch of different ones before you commit to a build. You will thank me later if you do.
