Seized Up Gehmann Iris

Post by Duncan »

Hi

I have a Gehmann front iris with horizontal level bars that hasn’t been used for 30 years that has seized up.

Any idea how I would go about rectifying?

Any help would be appreciated

You could try putting it in a inox bath for a bit. Then if it works chuck it in an ultrasonic cleaner or metho bath to get rid of excess oil.
Might work, might not, but worth a shot.

Probably not much help for you but I had a Gehmann adjustable iris that came with a second hand rifle. The previous owner had damaged some of the petals, trying to clean it he said. It was basically unusable/buggered. I contacted German for advise and they said send it to them. About 6 weeks later it returned, no charge, in as new condition.
