Military rifle enthusiasts Queensland

Post by Peter Hulett »

Had an approach from a friend tonight seeking my help. He has two no4 SMLEs as issued (1944 vintage) and a couple of bayonets and some original leather ammo pouches. All legal and registered to him. He wants to get rid of them but would like them to go to somebody or some group that would appreciate their historical significance. He lives on the Sunshine Coast so Queensland would be easiest for him.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately not matching. History not known. Details are a bit vague.

Any idea of what sort of money he is chasing for them, Peter. We have quite a strong field of smle shooters at north arm (sunshine coast) , especially with our annual anzac shoot, who might be quite interested. Me being one. I'll ask around tomorrow
Scott.

Thanks Scott, he doesn’t really want to give them away but he wants a good home for them. I don’t think money is a real issue

Peter, if you want to let him know that if he can come and see us at the range at north arm on any Saturday arvo or just get him to give me a call on 0404063701 we'll be prices and stuff. Thanks for the heads up, I'd hate seeing these rifles just getting handed in when they can't be found a home.
Scott.

If he is not in a hurry to sell them I might know of someone interested in one of them towards the end of the year. I am on the Sunshine Coast too (I will check with scott/r).

Any details about their condition?

I would be interested in the Bayonets to add to my collection - are they all for the No4 rifles?
Happy to forward my mobile number for photos etc.

Too be honest all the details are a bit vague. The owner had some age on him and is showing it. I will give him Scott’s details and we will go from there. Apparently he is a member of North Arm. Just don’t wan
t to see them handed in and destroyed.
Thanks to all
Peter
