Another newbie question on ammunition

Hi all

Just starting out in F-class shooting and have decided on the F-tr format. Set up is a very nice old Omark with maddco adaptor and match grade barrel (unsure of twists) Dolphin bipod and Sightron SIII 10-50x60. Have been using the club rifle up to now f-standard, so using the winchester 155g.
Moving onto my own rig and being cost effective at this stage as I learn and develop a skill set, what recommendations can the experienced shooters offer on off the shelf ammunition. Cost, accuracy, quality, barrel life etc all taken into consideration.

Chester, for the omark action I would stay with the 155 Winchester that you get from the club.

Agree with Scott here, it doesn't get much better. Test the HBC and Dyer option, work out which shoots best and stick with it.

The OSA/Aussie outback ammo with the 168 sierra matchkings shot very well in one of our club rifles. Cheaper than the NRAA ammo too if you can buy it it bulk from that big shop in QLD

The nraa match ammo is the 155 hbc Optimus loaded with 43 grains of what appears to be 2206h.

Talk to guys in your club that are running omarks about what they're using and get advice on what reloads to use. Ask about how to work out your seating depth to suit your rifle. The hbcs are okay, by what I have read and seen practically they seem to like to be around 5-8 thou off lands and a load in the upper half of the safe loads listed in the adi load data, and when you find a zone 0.2 of a grain of powder can make a big difference to grouping.

When you learn the basics of reloading you will make far more accurate ammunition than the Winchester match ammunition for less cost and using the same components. Hope like I did you kept your cases.

Find out what twist.. That said a friend in our club has been shooting 175's with no issues in his 1 in 13 in an Omark. The new Nosler are 50 bucks a hundred so quite cheap too
