2 v's 3 or more locking lugs?

Post by Foxy »

All the old fellas at the range are hell bent on using actions with 3 locking lugs. There seem to be a lot of good BR actions coming out of the states with 2 lugs.
Your feedback would be appreciated

Foxy,
Nothing wrong with either 2 or 3 lugged actions. Keep in mind that the more lugs there are, the harder it is to lift the bolt handle---generally.
Personally I prefer a 2 lug action. The omark is a three lug but the lugs have less bearing area than say a Wilburn or Barnard, which tends to make them wear prone. All 2 lug actions have considerably more bearing area per lug and wear is not a problem, as too is the case with actions such as Wilburn and Barnard.
My No 1 choice is 2 lugs. No 2 choice is 3 large lugs. I don't have a third choice.
Barry.
