BT E. FT/R Specific Bullets

Post by Bourney »

Hi F Class Shooters,

We should have the first tester packs of BT's latest creation available for sale at the end of this week or early next week, they are lead core, copper jacket bullets which are AL tipped to dramatically increase BC.

Hydraulic press is now set up I believe ready for more mainstream production so availability if you are as impressed as we are by these will not be an issue. If demand grows as expected then the option is there to scale and increase production, However this may see a price increase to meet demand.

Price is already a whopping $1.76 per bullet inc GST and we will make smaller quantities available for those that want to try before committing to a larger order. Tolerances are kept to an absolute minimum with less than 0.1 grain variance expected but we will verify this after a larger quantity have been produced.

Calculated G1 BC is greater than 0.7 but they are a rebated boat tail so do not follow the G1 or the G7 profiles. More info available but thought I would get this up for all to see.

Bullet Stats:
Rebated Boat Tail Copper Jacket Lead Core, Aluminium Tip
200grains
G1 BC (Calculated): 0.7+

Bourney

Yeah we know... but... they have consistent supply... and are held to the tightest tolerances humanly possible, and that costs.

It's the nature of making precision products by hand in Australia I'm afraid, Cost is always going to be high.

Like them, they would do well in my 300 WSM.

The reality is that the cost of the bullet component for a weekend shoot at an OPM even at $1.76 each would be quite small. Maybe $1 extra per round?

Proof will be in the pudding. If people start winning comps with this, people will spend the coin.

Nice looking pill though.

They look very similar to Rocky Mountain Bullets. Are you using Corbin tips?

Here is a couple of Match bullets that I added a tip to.

Is there a specific reason they went for the rebated boat tail instead of a regular type boat tail?

Accuracy. The fluid dynamics behind the Rebated Boat Tail have been around for a very long time, in fact Lapua Bullets regularly featured a Rebated Boat Tail, I believe they are no longer done by larger manufacturers due to cost when compared to the benefit achieved when compared to other compromises already made re. accuracy for speed of production. It's all about optimising accuracy and BC, increase one too much the other will always suffer, but it adds time and hence expense.

Norm, not sure whether it was corbs or another supplier in these, but they will be locally made going forward if they perform to expectation and generate the necessary sales.

Hello Mark,
Any plans to expand into 6mm, 6.5mm and 7mm?
Thanks

6mm is on the cards but will not feature AL tips. 6.5mm is in the future but unfortunately 7mm is not likely at this stage.

.224 and .311 are currently also available
