I was about to post about every picture I saw from the range showed the flags hanging straight down and that no wonder the scores at the NQRA Queens have been so high, it must never blow in Townsville.
But then I remembered my previous visits to the range and having a mini cyclone come through and covering the car with branches. At the start of shooting the next day I started to pay out on a shooter for not shooting the first range because his bolt and ammo was still in his tent until he pointed out his tent was 10 meters up a tree blown up there the previous night.

Send some pictures and tell some stories for us keyboard marksmen at home.

Conditions up to today have been mild but twitchy. The usual pain with afternoon patchy wind at 900m. This morning woke up at 3:00am with a howling swesterly and several umbrellas/gazebos and other blown off the range over the fence and into the trees. First few shooters have copped the worst of it so far. Just during down a bit as it swings around but expect it to pick up again and should be same for next few days. With 2 900m and 2 800m in queens proper it all should even out pretty well

A fantastic day one, some very tricky conditions and very few possible, although generally the possibles were shot by the usual suspects.

A very good spread across all grades and disciplines.

Apparently the issues with the time delay for data to appear on the NRAA website has been remedied.

Stanley is a shadow of his former self and the clock is ticking.

Paternity test pending between this shady character and Mr Bonaventura

What a day... Townsville is living up to its reputation once again with lightning fast changes and switches monstering scores for the unwary or just plain unlucky. I fell into that category.

Long ranges tomorrow with 7, 8 and 900 metres. Wind is expected to be increasing as well adding to the pain.

Roll on tomorrow.

Look's like there's a good tussle going on between Marty and DaveMc (and Mark F  ). I notice they all managed to include the odd 4 so as not to discourage the rest.

Day two shaping up well, similarly challenging conditions appear to be on the cards for the day, with the added joy of longer ranges. Bring it on.

The camp fire was popular last night, more BS than a Halls Creek Rodeo

The range romance / three way between Steve L, Marty and Stanley is nearing its grizzly end.

Peter Carter has made it clear that he is not willing to change his surname to Bonaventura, he is considering changing it to MacNamara, apparently he expects this will help his shooting career.
