G'day Richard,
In answer to your question-- no.
I consider the last 19 badges as gifts for attendance. However in all fairness I guess SARA were counting on a larger attendance from TR/A.
I think 5 badges for 24 B grade is about right.
Unfortunately badges have become a draw card instead of being a reward for input.
In my opinion there should be one only " Queens " badge --#1 -- in each discipline, followed up by a lesser badge or medal for place getters, suitably engraved or embroided as the case may be, --with a pre advertised appropriate number in each discipline.
There should be NO gifts, but at the same time all awards should be according to the numbers in each discipline. Currently it is not.
Forget about coming to a " Queens " and getting lucky ( to win a badge )
Badges should only be for those who earn them.

Agree Barry SARA were somewhat aware of the lower numbers but in their defence there probably thought that the Accommodation would be finish even though that would have been and extremely optimistic projection.
And the badge numbers were advertised I know the fix but would the TR fraternity accept and advertised percentage instead of actual numbers of badges I know it never as simple as it seems

Richard,

I was also pleased that they now have full mixed squadding on the mound. Two years ago I think it was still F-Class separated from TR. Regarding badges, the cost is coming down if you use the Pakistani ones. I think the answer is to decide on likely numbers, order on the HIGH side, then stick to a predetermined %age of the field (we do 33% at Rosedale). Excess badges can be scrapped - I know some people hate waste, but in the overall budget of a Queens, its chickenfeed. What was done with TR A-Grade in the SARA Queens was farcical, and an insult to those who take badges as seriously as most of us do. No doubt it was done with good intentions, but not with good judgement in my opinion.

Barry,
Recent council elections in Victoria( last week ) resulted in a vote return of some 280 from a membership of around 700.
How's that for getting involved in ( as some put it) " politics "--pathetic.

How do you know this information?? Have the results of the election been published somewhere?? Please tell!

Back to this forum; I spoke up about the badge issue and got caned and the silent treatment from my Association.
We have F-Class councillors but not a lot has changed that I can see. I just go and shoot for fun now, expensive fun but...

And yes Barry, both of my family members voted.
Good Luck.

Geoff.
Votes were counted last Sunday at VRA HQ ( Wellsford ) All I know is the number of votes. We will have to wait until the AGM to find out who the lucky persons are.

I put my vote in, wish others would also do.

Re badges etc, top 33 percent sounds good.

Cheers
Danny
