A very healthy competition in all scoped classes.

Alan, you are the only Victorian in the field, don't let that QLD mob convince you to move north! We need to keep them honest, and I have good faith in your abilities to do so :-)

Mike,

I don't feel like a Victorian - have just come from Darwin and am feeling the cold :D . We just had a light shower during the 800, and they say there's more to come over the next day or two.

Congratulations to Craig McGowan for a great "day at the office", to take out the Lead Up. =D> =D> Craig got home by 3 points from Rod Davies, with Spencer Dunstall just a point away in 3rd, and Jenni Hausler one "X" behind Spencer for 4th.
John Peters just one point further back in 5th, counting out Brett Bunyan from WA who ended on the same score.
Our Webmaster home in 7th spot, some eight (8) points behind Craig is probably saying some rude things occasionally about his scope that certainly cost him at least 6 points on the first two ranges.
Shaun Stoffels (Quick) shot his 6 x 47 Lapua all the way thru to finish on a quite respectable score just one point behind Alan.
I understand that there are some very very wet people at Belmont this afternoon , so no doubt there will be some sad tales about wet flags and varying conditions. For here and now though, "that's shooting" and with suspect weather apparently forecast for the duration of the whole event, there is a pretty fair chance that everybody will get a bit of a workout before its over.

Comparing the scores between disciplines, Jason Mayers winning FTR score of 410-22 would, have seen him finish 5th in Open, and the ever reliable Stephen Sharp just a point behind would have finished 7th in Open.
Bob Pedersen's winning 406-29 would have seen him finish equal 7th in F Open and Third place if he had been in FTR.
So it seems to me to be shaping up to a really great, competitive Queens that will be fascinating to follow blow by blow :D

Since they have been allowed to use bergers, the very best 308s and their drivers have been nipping at the heels of f open. There is a small but perceptible edge to the higher BC bullets but it aint much .....

Good to see Rod Davies shake that monkey off today and get the 7mm humming I assume it was the same barrel, not Gertrude ?

NRAA PRESIDENT'S

Craig, congratulations on your solid win. It is great that the pool of Open shooters who can challenge the best is increasing.

Congratulations to Jason who is already one of the "best" in F/TR.

If Rod departs the bar tonight at an early hour, he may well get online and contribute :D :D
I actually thought Gtrude was retired after Canberra last year. She was going to have a sex change and become a more manly 6.5 x 47 Lap, but apparently her previous rechamberings would have meant a very short "appendage" left for the new life.
I guess it's conceivable that he has got a number of calibres stuffed in the back of the car.......and it's sort of like a blindfolded lucky dip.
I actually did hear the word SAUM mentioned with his name late today. If we pester him long enough he should come clean !

I heard Rod say WSM actually, and I suspect it came out of the bag for a run today.

Yes I want to congratulate Craig in F-Open, Jason in F/TR, and actually Josh Reid who I believe topped F-Std shooting in B Grade. I scored for him throughout and was very impressed - he lost most of his points in vertical. Watch out for this fella - he has a future!

The closeness between the grades augurs well for the F-Class Calcutta, which I have not forgotten about. I'll post some more information tomorrow night in readiness for the event on Saturday night.

Its already been mentioned that we had some rain. They actually had a cease-fire for about 20 mins during the 1000. I've heard a few bad luck stories in that regard, but as I kept telling myself, no sweat, this is only the leadup. Just wondering what we'll need to say tomorrow night. I know, this is only the shorts!

Back tomorrow night, much reloading to do.

Gertrude 1 has just about been retired but Gertrude 2 is looking great so far. I would have brought it with me if I had more projectiles.

Holy cow, that is a great score in any context, but in F Std B grade, it's simply superb ! =D> =D> Sorry Josh, I clean missed it when I was "comparing".
So our B Grade Presidents Champion would have finished in front of Sharpey to take Second Place in FTR, and was 3 points in front of the A Grade Presidents winner.i!!
I get the feeling that Josh's new approach to case preparation and reloading processes was sort of worth the extra effort .
Well done mate. Bloody well done \:D/ \:D/

Yes, I used the 7mm/300WSM for the last 2 ranges today but it will be put away for the Queens and I (shock, gasp, horror) I wont be doing any barrel changes through the Queens, just using a 6 Dasher and 284.

As for the results, a big congratulations to Craig McGowan who shot consistently all the way through, no matter what the conditions threw at him. He will certainly be one to watch in the next few days.

The groupies at the bar have all rushed off squealing about a certain barramundi farmer from North QLD who is apparently now in the building.
With Cameron and Julie McEwan arriving today, who else will be arriving in the morning?

How about Josh Reid as other have mentioned, awesome job. We will certainly be seeing more from him. =D>

F Class grading

Post by John S »

Josh would go to A grade only if his grade average score is equal to or exceeds 94.5. Is this the case?

Cheers

Correct. See SSRs 12.13.2

While the TR grading rules are quite specific in stating that upgrades only occur after the end of the meeting F Class is not quite so clear cut.
