243 ackley dies

Post by jlorimer »

 This is a help call. I am having trouble obtaining a set of dies for a .243 Ackley improved in a hurry. everybody wants weeks of lead time to supply - only trouble is I've only got a month up my sleeve for development. anybody out there got a full length resizer they want to part with?
Best of luck to all those who could make it to the Nationals, I hope to shoot the Brisbane Queens in August. that is if I can get some dies. Stuck cases don't go over very well in a Queens!

G'day John

Michael Otto (Kapunda) shoots a 243 AI, but I'm pretty sure the Ottos won't part with their dies. I presume you've tried the usual online retailers, such as Sinclair, Lock Stock & Barrel, Grafs and Cabellas. They might not keep it as a stock item and hence need to backorder it. Huntingtons are an RCBS specialist and might keep a set in stock, so they could get here in a week by airmail.

hi john,
having used a 223x8twist with 50 gn ballistic tips successfully for varminting, i wonder if you have experimented with 55 &/or 70 gn ballistic tips in your (obviously) fast twist 243 ack?
regards,

:DHello folks, I am glad to report that the problem with the dies are over, (unless Murphy strikes ) Sinclair has informed me that the dies are enroute to Australia. Many thanks Lyn for the offer. Bruce! all that I can say to you is that the 80 grainers fly all right at 300m, I was using them for fire forming. they were spitzers, but man! they were hitting the mark pretty well, that's about I know about them little pills. :D
