Old cherrywood possibly? Though I have only ever seen a few that would be big enough (really good rolling pin wood),

G,day Ned , yes i have two pieces 30mm wide , i will laminate it on some walnut with two pak an cut it out , be interesting to see how it comes out, the walnut going in the middle is very stable and has heaps of fiddle in it . not sure what shape at this stage, Chop.

Thanks Cookie, i would have built a joystick but had second thoughts about it after using one and then switching back to my own, i have my own reasons , ime sure they may suit many, Chop.
