FTR Barrel free bore

Post by Peterla »

Hi all
What the freebore most of you use in a FTR setup to chamber Berger 180 to 200 projectiles
180 jugs and 200.20x are the 2 main projectiles that will be used in this rifle

Cheers

I think you're going to get a variety of answers.
Mine is 308 thou of freebore from a 2016 FTR reamer. I'm mainly shooting 200 hybrids but I've shot everything from 155s to 215s quite succesfully from this chamber.

.170 for 185, 200H and 200.20x
.233 for 200H, 200.20x and 208H - I haven't tried 185 - it might work - they can handle a lot of jump

Manson has the reamers for the 2 specs.
Some of the dimensions in the .233 spec reamer are slightly larger - apparently it s helping ES/SD numbers - I think EC alluded to this with the reamer spec he uses too so there might be something to it.

Manson did the set of 3 different freebores. 170, 233 and 308
I can only see the 170 on their site now.
Any idea what they were doing to the 233 dimensions?

Throat diameter is slightly larger based on experimentation being done in LR BR, Fopen and PRC in respect to more
consistent velocities with slightly larger throat diameters.

some feed back

The jury is still out on the larger throat diameters. It is following on to a lot of testing that has been done in F Open, LR BR and some PRS shooters. I have not seen any real difference in my own testing yet, but other people swear by it. I think the logic is strong.
