F2 Class……

Post by Bugsy1976 »

Hi all,
I am new to F Class shooting, just starting basically. I live remote and only have access to SSAA ranges, and have a setup for F2 Sniper Class. M24 REM 700 Mk4 M3 LR/T 10X44 fixed scope and have been practicing out to 300m, as that’s the longest range within 400 kms of me.
Want to shoot WARA comps, but really not sure which class to go in with my setup, as I don’t want to change it if I don’t have to, I use 175gr SMK, or 168gr SMK or ELD-M, full details of my setup below; any help would be most appreciated, thanks in advance

Trued Remi 700 L/A
Remi trigger approx 2.5lbs
Remi recoil lug
M24 profile Krieger 11.25 5R barrel, M118 L/R chamber (24”)
Ok Weber sight bases
Badger Ordnance reproduction scope rail
HS Precision M24 SWS stock with Sunny Hill bottom metal
Leupold mk4 rings
Leupold Mk4 M3 10x40 L/R – new on purchase with box, manual and ballistic dials P/No 47638
Correct U.S government markings and serial number
308 win-stamped 7.62 NATO
Correct military issue sling

Providing your rifle with bipod fitted is less than 8.25kg the best fit would be FTR.

If you could run 155gr bullets you would fit into FS and if you attend enough shoots you would probably qualify for FS B grade.

Thanks BATattack, much appreciated. I can run 155gr SMK, I run the 168gr and 175gr for the SSAA F2 class, but intend to possibly shot FTR and now maybe FS here and outside of Australia.

FS is not an international discipline where FTR is. FTR is quite competitive and most are using 185-210gr bullets so you'll be at a disadvantage.

If you are using 155's, do yourself a favor and use Berger Full Bore 155.5.That way that 'disadvantage' will be hardly noticeable, even against the 200gr pills.

24” barrel is the biggest limitation for ranges much past 600 yards
And you will need more scope magnification

Yep, get on the Bergers... The disadvantage will only then be supply and price
