Rifle tracking

Hi all,
I have been having issues with the way my rifle tracks during recoil, high left, I have been putting that down to the torque effect of the 308 and 200gr projectiles. This morning I put the rest (joypod) on the rifle and just pulled the rifle back and forwarded and I discovered that the rifle tracks the same way high and to the left. I loosened the pic rail mounting plate and twisted it to one side and rechecked the track and it seems to have reduced the left movement. Have other people had a similar issue?

Have you checked all the little things first I.e. bipod is square with the stock, rear bag ears parallel with the stock, front plate is level, etc?

Not sure about high left, but if I have a shot go high right 9/10 times it’s my shoulder being too high in relation to the butt pad.

Your gun set up is not correct. Your body position is not correct. Your bipod position is incorrect. One or all of these.

Mitchell, shooting a bipod is an acquired art. Its a light rifle and will always want to "jump".
Try moving your body to the left until the gun just jumps up. If you go too far it will jump to the right. eventually you will be able to get down in the right position every time.

Assuming you are a right handed shooter and barrel is a right twist;
High and left under recoil can often indicate excessive pressure from shooter at rear of rifle (with cheek etc) and not being square behind system.

The issue I can see is just by sliding the rifle forward and back the rifle wants to track to the left. If I twist the pic adaptor on the rail, the joypod is now not perpendicular but it cuts a lot of the left tracking issue. With my dolphin bipod it tracks straight up. I am wondering if I hava an issue with my joypod.

Check the feet/skis of the joypod are square

If you are using the standard adaptor, this could be the issue. If the legs aren't level, that could also be an issue. I use a Joypod, but have an adaptor made. It's very hard to diagnose a problem without seeing you shoot or seeing your setup.
