I've been shooting a hunting rifle since I started shooting long range 2.5 years ago and enter many/most out of area OPMs in Open or if offered SH.
Do what you like at club level but stop messing with a class that the regular supporters and participants understand as the rules, ie SSRs.
Yep, I don’t usually comment on these platforms but it is bizarre isn’t it

- current SSR’s have increased our club membership as they are - seems certain clubs are targeting different categories for members or using that as a reason to manipulate the rules as some shoot multiple categories ie SH,PRS,PSR therefore think it’s fair to make change so they can use the one rifle across the board or gain an advantage in SH as F open would be too competitive.
The sport is meant to be focused on involvement, and it does however there seems to be a select few that wish to push boundaries for their own personal advantage and agenda, one wanting the weight lifted to 8kg

-SH is there so standard factory rifle owners like recreational hunters that make up a considerable % of gun ownership I assume can come and try long range shooting with their basic factory off the shelf HUNTING set up and be on a level playing field with similar rigs- hence the rules (SSRS) without rules we live with the animals (quote from a great movie) this is what attracted me and now I shoot SH more than I hunt.
Rules change I get it, but one category shouldn’t be allowed to manipulate another and SSR’s should be what’s adhered too not individual state rules otherwise those that wish to travel or able to travel to compete interstate have spent money following one set of rules to find out they don’t comply to another state.
Hopefully the new and I do mean new sub committee can come up with an agreement going forward that lifts the sport and possibly listen to a few that have invested into the division and support the Association (Just my opinion and 5c)
