What do people think about the use of wildcats as an alternative to the stock standard offering?

Some examples give positive return on brass life and usability e.g 22-250AI gives better brass maintenance with little increase in speed. You can go higher in speed at the peril of greatly reduced barrel life!

While a 6mm dasher rivals that of the 6mm creedmore factory offering, would the dasher be disqualified as it may not be an over the counter offering?

Has NSWRA considered competitors may be using non standard chambers, and is that considered ok?

I'd like to know as I'm holding off buying dies.

No current restrictions on chambering, only range energy limits.

Do consider that new SSRs are being released and that this may change...

Its for magazine bolt guns , so far the calibre issue has not been adequately addressed since there would be a slight advantage in 6.5CM, a disadvantage in 223, compared with 308. If this is a serious comment then nobody would be shooting those FO calibers as far as I know, particularly in a light rifle.

I think this is gonna be fantastic! People dumping $7k into a "custom" rifle built on a factory action that they can only get $2k for once the rules keep changing every 12 months!! There is gonna be some tears! Hahahaha

I eventually settled on a Begara HMR factory rifle $2,100. It has an adjustable cheek piece and good stock design. Time will tell if it is a winner:-)

Tim, if the answer here is that I can use any chambering, I was hoping to use 338 cases pushing 230 grain 30 cal Berger's. I'm already looking at suitable Limb saver recoil pads because I'm no longer young and dumb ......

Could be a barrel burner but no more than a 243

I'm asking the question because I think it should be addressed. While some people are doing their own thing, I want to abide by the rules!

I can buy a 6.5 CM Begara rifle as it's a standard configuration from that manufacturer. So what if I have 6.5x47L dies and cases from my FO days, it would be preferable for me to rechamber for that cartridge instead.

I hope that when the rules for the class are finally settled, they'll be what is best for the sport, rather than be driven by vested interests, including the impatient ones who gamble on expensive equipment, then cry foul when its "disallowed".

sounds perfect for a 6.5 kg 'hunting rifle'. and I can give you the number of a great surgeon in sydney if you need reconstruction
