Projectile Database

Post by pjifl »

I would like to get or build up or obtain a comprehensive database of bullet dimensions.

Length of tail, bearing length, length of front and Ogive ratio, Meplat
diameter and base diameter. And of course mass. And of course a brand and identifier.

What I am after does not seem to be published but surely someone has done this before.

I could do it if I had a collection of projectiles to measure.

Do bullet manufacturers still produce fancy wall displays of all their
bullets - not a chart but actual samples glued on a display board ?

If anyone knows where to get this info or samples please let me know. Or maybe some are willing to do some measuring of projectiles in their possession to help build up such a database ?

Thanks to JR for the offer - I might take it up. Probably be down there early - mid Jan for a day delivering stuff to JCU.

Also thanks to Andrew Larkin (another linst) who mentioned Alan Peaks database at

http://www.users.on.net/~adpeake/bprof.xls

which is a good start.
