Hi all
I had a look around the forum but I could not quite find what I was looking for so apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere.
I’m looking to get a custom paint job on a rifle stock. I was wondering if anyone in South East Queensland (Gold Coast / Brisbane) has had either had a stock painted by someone they would recommend or know of a shop that does that kind of work. I have tried a few places and they were not interested in small custom jobs. Taking it to the nearest shop for the colour of the day is not an option for me.
Regards

Have you considered water transfer painting??
The sky is the limit with the design patterns available.

That is the the same reason I started painting stocks myself, Auto Body shops are not interested in this sort of work.
Jordan Drew paints stocks but i think he may be in Cairns, but could try him.
Locally I would look for Airbrush or motocycle tank painters. They are very specialised at doing smaller size work.
What sort of Paint/colour are you looking for?
What type of stock it going on to?

I have... the stock would need sealing in some areas first (bolt handle recess and ejection port area). I would be a bit nervous about my custom stock with a fresh bedding job being in water, i guess its a matter of finding someone who could do a consistent job for the joins/overlap and correct sealing with clear.

Paint and colour would be a standard 2 pac car colour, deep/wet looking pearl in it perhaps.
Fibreglass bench stock
Airbrush and helmet-art people are on the list to contact next.

The Fibreglass stock will make it a bit easier than a wood stock to do in 2k.
Put LOTS of coats of 2k clear on if you can!! minimun 4.. Stops them chipping if they get banged around..
