You’re comparing my comment on an action that stopped production in the 80s to the most produced bolt-action rifle in history?

Seriously?
The Remington 700 action:
- has been manufactured since 1962,
is still manufactured today, and
remains the standard inlet footprint for both short and long actions.
Word to the wise...
If:
- you don't have anything useful to add, and
you don't know what you are talking about
STFU
Else:
- you look like a troll
or an idiot
or both
We all get you don't have a spring and don't have a clue.

Why not just make a new one?
It looks like this:
So
Measure the diameter of the wire and get the spring steel from a music shop (guitar string) or piano shop if it is thicker than guitar E B G strings.
Bend it around a drill bit ~ 75% of the curve for the middle bit (it springs back)
Make the other 2 bends and clip the ends.

Definitely worth keeping in mind, little harder if you don't have an example to follow though.

I used a remington f open gun for years without a bolt release and just used a small screwdriver to push the release bit in each time I wanted to take the bolt out .

That spring actually holds the bolt stop up, without it there is no bolt retention, still usable but rather unpleasant.

I can drop the whole bit out and the rifle is still “useable” in the sense that it’ll fire. But, This is for my PSR rifle, so quick cycling the bolt and magazine feeding in positions, without a bolt retainer will be a huge pain.
Rich has very generously sent me one, so hopefully it’ll get here in time and I’ll be sorted
