Nightforce Competition Vs March 10-60 Tactical

#1 Postby Jack_Aus » Tue Dec 13, 2022 7:00 pm

Hey guys

The time has come to upgrade from the trusty golden eagle.
I think I’ve narrowed it down to the NF Competition or the March 10-60 Tactical.
NF give a LE discount so the comp comes down to roughly the same price.

Is there much difference between the non high master March glass and Nightforce competition glass?

Or do I spend the extra and get the high master March?

Cheers
Jackson

March for sale here >> viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14921

and I wouldn't put the NF comp in the same class as the March for optics

You’ll be hard pressed to notice ANY difference optically with your naked eye.

Save yourself money and go the NF. Plenty of national and world records in many disciplines have been won with the NF.

Having used a High Master and a March Tactical, I can say that the High Master definitely is better than the Tactical for picture if only slightly; the Tactical was still a beautiful scope.

Nightforce Comp vs March High Master, we've got one of each left and they're both equally good. Craig won Sydney Queens F/Open January this year with a clean sheet using the Nightforce Comp, and we've had plenty of success in plenty of shoots with both scopes. Have run both over 7SAUMS and 308s without any issues. We've had a couple of failures with the Marchs, one lost point of aim completely without reason or warning, another with seized knobs (had been in storage a long while) and another by our own fault (lapped rings fitted wrong way around, denting the tube). Deon Japan (March) were great to deal with, albeit a bit slow on turnaround because of shipping. Had zero issues with the Nightforce. I currently shoot the March, but I probably prefer the Nightforce honestly. 55x vs 60x is pretty negligible.

The other thing to note is the weight difference; the March is a heavier scope, especially in the High Master.

Hope this helps.

March 10-60x 52 730g

NF Comp 15-55 790g

Kahles 10-50 890g

The reason for the extra weight in the Kahles is shown by comparing the photos. The massive reticle housing and turrets. In both photos the mount is identical. Kahles also has 56mm glass but same 30mm tube.

And the 10-60x56 High Master is a whopping 925g. Heavy bastard.

I know this is a old post but i have the March HM and Std 10-60
seriously the difference is very minimal. HM is a bit crisper and when you are looking at surrounds etc its slightly noticeable but on target you cannot literally tell the difference. I had to laugh when you mentioned a discount was needed to even the NF price up with March.. I remember when NF were about a thousand dollars less than March and IMO that price difference was the correct reflection between the two choices.. but as you will see others will say the opposite
