Muzzle Brake - baffles/deflectors between pairs

We had the AGM for the Darwin Rifle Club last Saturday, and an amendment to our Range Standing Orders is looking very likely to allow muzzle breaks.
This hopefully will encourage more PRS oriented or braked factory Sporter Hunter (depending on final release of rules) to come and stretch the legs of their rifles.

So the question I put to you is - how to keep the vast majority of the muzzle blast deflected away from other shooters?

Have you seen a working example, have you an idea that “may” work?

Hi David.
Some ranges I have shot at, use just some sheets of plywood and some star pickets.Reduces the percussion and blast significantly. Even laying a foldout table on its side works a treat.

Not if they knocked you on your A1 what was the reason
I'm guessing weight which is what I brought up in another thread and was told that I was wrong.

My Tikka Tac A1 doesnt have a brake on it - and I shoot F Open with it.

Apologies I must be losing the plot I could have sworn in your opening post you said something about having your tact A1 knocked from hunter class

Not a problem bloke, I choose to shoot Open for the added challenge

In a competition with the same dynamics ie some loving and some hating muzzle brakes it was decided to get the the guys with muzzle brakes to shoot together, it worked and every one was happy.

As above, using a barrier like ply to separate braked shooters from others works well.

Another options I have seen work well @mick_762 is the club nominates times for all to use range and then say "after 12noon muzzle brakes welcome".......
If brakes offend anyone, simple, be done and leave by then.

Also, I've said it before. There is a massive difference between a APA or Area419 brake and some piece of junk bought off eBay. The port design on better brakes has been specifically designed to reduce blast back towards competitor and spotters.

The bits of wood won't protect you from sitting in front of a rifle blast.
Can't see too many newbs coming back after sitting beside one at a bench range where most people start their target shooting.

They would be fine in their place spotting long-range splashes where no one has to be beside them.
Myself, I just train to do that with skills rather than screw a brake on.

If they need brakes to shoot paper targets at a few hundred yards, maybe they should harden up or buy a .223
