Hi Tom1. I get 2840 from my standard Tikka T3 1:8 using 2208 24.5gn ( Berger 80.5gn)

Hi Guys

I 'm a bit of an outsider to you, I don't shoot F class, but I have developed a .223 load for ISSF 300 mt which I shoot in England with a Barnard P chambered in .223 wylde with a 30 gm Bix'n Andy trigger, Bartlein 1 in 8 twist 26 ins barrel. Only shooting 300 mts you may not think my load will be of any interest to you, as my criteria is, pinpoint accuracy, (300 mt X ring is 50 mm), low recoil (its a 60 shot prone match), and wind bucking, (we shoot at Bisley!).

I use Lapua cases, BR4 primers, Sierra 80 gn Matchkings (new super pointy ones!), 25 gns of Vihtavouri N540 powder, seated to COAL of 2.525, chrono'ed at 2910 fps.

Result is quiet surprising, well it surprised me, and a lot of others who said I was wasting my time! Accuracy is X ring, relies on the shooter as its not rested, but tightest 5 shot string is 10.8, 10.9, 10.7, 10.9, 10.8 , that's a 20 mm group, our scores with it match or better our 6 mmBR scores!
Recoil is noticeably lower than 6mmBR (which is also half a 308!).

The biggest shock? Wind bucking! Its just seem to spit in the eye of the wicked Bisley wind. Definately better than our 6mmBR's.

Looking at the results and velocities you guys are getting, would it shoot at 1000 yds as well? Hmmmmm? Maybe. I'll never know, but maybe worth a try for you ?

My Ozzie link? For fun, I'm now building a heavily modded Sportco in .223 for 300 mt, same barrel, and I'll use the same load.
Have Fun
Robin
