Lets throw a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 into the mix. Can be found for about $1,100 if you shop around and haggle a bit. It has an illuminated reticle which is of dubious benefit and 110moa of elevation adjustment. Still over 47moa of elevation with the zero stop installed which is more than enough for 1000m. And don't forget the lifetime no questions asked warranty. EBR-7C (MOA) reticle suites me down to the ground as I like a center dot (0.14) and being a FFP

Re illuminated reticles - first thing I did when I bought an NXS several years ago was to remove the illuminated reticle battery, and discard it.

With the 25 power limit, the Vortex is very popular with some of the regular winners using them one guy had some trouble with his and they just gave him a new one, ill stick to my old NXS 22*.

I've found the Leupold 6.5-20EFR to be a great scope as it is designed (as I believe) to handle Air rifles. Mine tracks better than I can shoot and can be found for about $1000. I believe its ideal doe beginners as the 20x isn't too high but high enough for long range (at least to 700yds) which is enough to get newbies started. Worth a look for .223's or 6BR's as a club scope/starter. If its their own scope, is makes a brilliant varmint/22lr scope if they decide to upgrade.
FWIW of course.....and mine is NOT for sale!

Absolutely agree with Geoff.
I have 3 of them all on 308's, had them for years and fired thousands of rounds with no problems at all.
Excellent optics and tracking. Use them out to 1000 yards.
Mine are NOT for sale either.

The above is link to scope called Arken. Apparently they are excellent value for the mo way and have a bit of following in the US for the value delivered by the low price. Scopes out seems to the be the Aussie seller. The YouTube reviews indicate they are pretty for a low price.

As much as I would love to be able to spend big dollars on a scope it doesn’t always work out that way. For about 2 years I have shot f class with a very reliable, very clear, accurate dialling $250 8-32 discovery. Best $250 I reckon you could spend.
