2023 VRA Kings and State Championship

#1 Postby ajvanwyk » Fri Feb 03, 2023 12:44 pm

Dear friends,

The VRA Kings and State Championship 2023 will continue as planned !!

As we work to execute our plans, I can share with you that this will surely be a festival of shooting, with DRA Teams, CoC and other specialist events (PSR/SH) being planned with the state championship.

We will shortly communicate more detail, however, I am confident that this good news is worth celebrating!

Please share this with all shooters and spectators!

On behalf of the VRA Council,
Albert van Wyk

Absolutely cannot wait to see PSR shot on the Wellsford Range, well done to all involved in this space.

Onward and upward, look forward to a fantastic event.

Keith,

As we only just (Friday) received the approvals, we will initiate the broader communication from Tuesday onwards. This will include making the entries available through our online shop and also with downloadable forms, much to do, but we are ready to get it done.

PSR will be interesting to see. Is it shot at the same time, alongside the main Kings event?

Can only guess based on Canberra; they ran a true PSR event Monday/Tuesday before the Kings lead-up, as a stand-alone event, with some of the shooters then staying on to shoot Sporting Hunter in the Kings Prize.

Hey Albert I heard a rumour that in F Open there will be barrel put up by a gunsmith for a shooter top scoring using a 6mm or smaller, no 7mm's, 308's or WSM's in the running for that barrel. Is that rumour correct.? I'm not sure of the format, didn't quite get that.
That will draw competitors that would otherwise not compete against the big calibers.

Rumour is correct. David Brewster has donated a barrel for the top shooter using only 6mm. More info on this should be distributed shortly.

Hi Phil, thinking is 6mm and smaller. Plenty of 223s around!!

Excellent initiative. You want to attract new shooters to the big comps . You have to at least offer them something. Not everyone wants to, or can, cope with large calibres therefore they are not competitive with a 6 mm or 223. Takes nothing away from the big calibre hot shots they still have the same if not more competition, just gives some of the also rans a goal.
Well done David

Hi All, would be helpful to know how many people are interested in shooting the 6mm or smaller comp, really need to know if it's going to be viable?

Albert,

I see registration is now available (https://www.vra.asn.au/vra-kings-registration Thank You Triplejim).

Will there be a course of fire posted for each match, so we know how much ammo to load?
(Not a lot of detail on the registration form.)
