F6 units hit the Streets

#1 Postby Oplo » Wed May 05, 2021 11:46 am

Congratulations to the Gentlemen who secured their new F6 units last week. We appreciate your patience in getting these manufactured and tested.

Please note the dual rifle stop for low profile barrel-stock combinations - this setup can be used by anyone. Also, note that all Oplo rests are serialised for proof of ownership and tracking.

Every F6 sold so far has had an Atlas rear bag support plate sold with it. Great that people understand the concept of what we are doing.

Unfortunately, the first F6-Titanium wasn’t part of this shipment but will be ready very shortly. The delay on this unit is attributed to the speed at which Titanium can be machined due to risk of work hardening the metal, with so much metal being removed from the raw stock it is a tedious process. I’ll post pics of this unit once available.

Next batch of F6 is just 2 weeks away with another batch of 50 units scheduled 6-8 weeks thereafter.

A big Thank You to the owner of F6 MOD-1 00001 for purchasing the very first unit off the drawing board 7 months ago, way before the prototype was even built.

Congratulations to the owner of F6 MOD-1 00002 who shot 126.10 at 800yds last weekend without even running-in the coaxial bearings.

You have me intrigued as to the cost? The design, engineering and machining involved is obviously phenomenal but it looks like an interesting upgrade to our current SEB max. Feel free to send me a PM or Email.

Cheers,

James.

Hi James, thanks for your compliment.

Originally we were looking at two versions, the F6 as a club rest and an F7 as a high end competition rest. Once the F6 prototype was manufactured we realised it would be difficult for the F7 to trump so, we incorporated features from the F7 as part of an F6 MOD-1 Upgrade. The F6 is now the only F Class model. The F7 will become the Benchrest version. The current F6 and future F7 can be optionalised with Titanium components.

I choose not to comment about any other manufacturer directly however, the F6 has a linear bearing coaxial mechanism which isolates vertical motion from horizontal. This allows us to increase vertical friction to prevent disturbance to the waterline (requires the counterbalance) while retaining slick horizontal movement. It is not possible to rock the head laterally (side-to-side). Coarse adjustments can be made while looking through the scope and without disturbance to the shooter’s position (great for physically impaired shooters or making fast mid-string adjustments). The coarse adjustment requires no locking mechanism - just turn the knob. The bag side clamps has a central thumbwheel for adjustment within arm's reach. This is very different to most/all other joystick rests.

Cost is currently AU$3,950 however, the MOD-1 Upgrade will force us to increase the price to AU$4,450 which will all be advertised on our website in a month or so and before the rises take effect.

Cheers.

Hi Cheech, thanks for your compliment.

Yes, there is an underbelly pan which is fixed into position with those small screw holes you can see in the image however, all the bearings, the two rolled screws with recirculating ball-nuts and the gearbox have dust/water seals so it’s really not needed but it is assumed the customer expects no compromise for their money.

Cheers.
