these will be so consistent that tuners will be obsolete.

A very good article Bruce. Well worth the read.

Probably worth letting it get some legs first before jumping on board. So many chamber and power combinations that need to demonstrate safety and reliability. And can we store a loaded round for years safely? Time will tell.

We could all be using them in the next twelve months I guess.

the priority seems to be lead free status.
the question is does the aluminium turn into an oxide.
aluminium oxide is a seriously good abrasive.
then there is longevity, reliability etc.

That is a good point. The primers currently in common use can contain crushed glass which would be a significant abrasive too. At the moment it seems these new primers are only used in pistol cartridges. I expect that will change though.

pistol ammo = indoor ranges in usa = an interest in lead free.

it appears that since the 1950s us military, as well as winchester primers have had aluminium in them to make igniting ball powder more reliable. 50 browning and 20mm cannon likewise.
years ago i recall that winchester claimed no need for magnum primers (theirs) in large case slow burning powder loads like 378 wby.
this could be why.

Early information I have is that there is no gain/benefit in performance over what we are all using right now.

No I’m not just saying that to give the U.S. guys a edge over the shooters from down under!

I can see the advantage in indoor range usage with the lead free thing but as of this time from what I’m hearing no performance gain.
