It is years since I had anything to do with the NRAA Supplied Factory Ammo.

Does anyone have measurements of what Velocity can be expected from this stuff ?
Both 308 and 223.
I am not really interested in knowing its quality, just the typical Velocity and bullet used.

hi there,
now i know you would have looked more than twice at those readings but just can't imagine the nraa producing a bullet that does that speed.
maybe they are cost saving ?

Average 2980 out of our club barnard with a 30" barrell

I'd be interested to know if anyone knows what was the muzzle velocity of the old ADI ammo with the 144gn FMJBT projectile.

Factory Specification was 2750 f/s measured at 77 feet from muzzle in a 26" barrel. That would put it at around 2800 f/s at the muzzle in a 26" barrel.

Recent disassembly of an unusable $1.30 nraa round showed it loaded with 43 grains of what appeared to be 2206h. Considering how low the charge is I would think that most would struggle to hit much more than 2800 fps. I will not buy any more of the nraa factory ammunition as I have had too many that are unusable or in some cases downright dangerous! They need to either start using good adi brass or severely improve their quality control.

I have had cases which have had cuts in them which are barely perceptible until fired upon which they expell gases into the chamber, cases with severely creased necks which cannot be chambered (3in one box and multiple more in several boxes) cases with split necks and others which have numerous deformities such as bad shoulder dents and even had one which was dented/deformed far enough in the body that it would not chamber. I have shot plenty of factory ammunition in my time of most major brands and never seen anything like the crap I have seen in the nraa Winchester range ammo!

I have only been shooting FClass for a few years. I regularly use the NRAA Win 308 with the HBC projectiles (maybe 260 rounds so far?) and have never had an issue.

As a newbie I have always thought the ammo shoots well for the price. Only other factory ammo that shoots better in my rifles is Hornady 168gr Zombie Max (quite the conversation starter!) at almost twice the price...

No I don’t have any photos sunnycoast I believe I have melted all the defective ones into ingots, I might be able to find a couple if I have a dig around, or maybe in the box of unfired ones I have. The problems are not new and I saw it 16-18 years ago when in the range supplied ammunition. I got back into the game about 12 months ago and had little option but to buy the club ammunition at first and regularly saw many defects in it. The biggest issue is the lack of quality control and lack of inspection, it just goes through the production line and gets shoved into boxes.
