Hi All,
I have a barnard PC action I'm using in F open, is this too heavy for an FTR rifle?
Should I be looking at something lighter?

A lot of FTR peeps are using the P, its a solid action and very reliable.
Some have gone for the S for a bit of weight savings....

I'm with Jason on this one a Barnard action is one of the strongest and most reliable out there. The only thing is there triggers are prone to issues.

Only if set up wrong, or fiddled with by amateurs!!!

Personally I think Barnards are too heavy for F/TR (they are like 1.3-1.4kg with the trigger), but Jerome Ziersch built one using a carbon fibre bolly stock that makes limit with a parralel barrel and a Barnard P. I bought a Panda F for the weight saving.

We run 3 Barnards Model Ps for FTR with Boly Stocks. They work well and have no probs with weight.

Any idea how the parallel barrel is going?
I have Peter Bevan making a complete rifle with one of his actions supporting a parallel tube. Looking forwad to seeing how it goes against my number 7s.

Hi Tim
We have some Parallel Barrels 31mm in Diameter 33 niches long for FTR. And they go ok. And we have some NO 7 as well and both shoot very well. The Parallel Barrels might behave better when it comes to recoil.

I shot the gun at 600 yards with Jerome and another mate using 215gr hybrids and it was a real pussy cat to shoot. The other mate of mine is having one built almost to the same specs. Not sure how much develpoment he has put in to it as yet, but it shot pretty reasonably at that range. Got good speed too.
