Based on shooting the 6.5x47, I'd start at 38gr and work up in 0.2gr increments. My 6.5 loved 39.2gr. Velocity was more than acceptable and the brass lasted over 25 firings.

6x47 will be a project down the track.

Starting at 38gr would be a good place to start for the 105s, I ended up settling on 40.0gr of 2209 with no pressure issues.

I use to shoot a 6x47 Lapua. My barrel was a 7.5 twist to shoot the 115gr. Bergers. I shot 39.0gr. of H4350 and out of a 30" barrel was giving me just a tad over 3000fps. I did go up to 40.0gr. of powder but my groups doubled in size at a 1k. At 39gr. it was giving me 1/3moa for vertical. I shot the gun in the 2009 F-Class Champs here.

The shop F-Class gun is also a 6x47 Lapua but the barrel twist is 1-8. At 40gr. it gave me 3100fps. and shot great with no pressure signs etc....but we run it primarily at 39.0gr. and a 107SMK. That barrel is also a 30" finish.

If you start with 39gr and work up towards 40gr of 2209 you should find something for 105gr pills in an 8 or 7.75 twist barrel

i think the velocity would be between 3100 and 3200. I shoot 39.5 in my 7.75 twist, 105gr bergers. I did not have much luck with 115s.

I gave up on the 115's. Seemed to inconsistent from lot to lot. Heard it from other shooters as well. A good lot would give me 1/3 minute but other lots with the same lot of powder and primers would give me 3/4 minute.

So all of my 6mm's I dropped back to 105-107gr. type bullets.

Hi Guys,
I am playing around with my relatively new 6.5 x 47L and struggling to get decent velocities with 2208. Whilst I have a pretty accurate load (135gn Berg Class Hunters, 37.5gn 2208 and CCI 450 primers), the projectiles are only going around 2,750fps - I don't have a lot of experience with this cartridge, but I believe they should be travelling at around 2,900fps +. I have noticed that in fairly light winds, the projectiles move a fair amount, so I do think I need to increase the powder charge or maybe swap powders.

My barrel is 1:8 twist and 26" long. The batch of 2208 powder that I am using is about 4 years old, so I am thinking that perhaps it has lost a bit of potency, not sure - has anyone else had similar experiences with this cartridge, as I thought 37.5gn 2008 might be pushing the envelope ?

Evening mate,
I have 300+ of these if you want to give some a try?
Perhaps a slight upping of charge, and a slightly lighter pill may work?
Even a potential change to ADI 2209?

I have used my 6x47 alot, hence i am on my second barrel :)

for 105/108gr projectiles: 6mm bergers
I think somewhere between 39 and 40gr 2209 will get you a load, i was shooting 40.3 but i think the current batches of 2209 are a bit hotter. So I switched to 2213. I can get up to 43gr in there with good results, and the case is nice and full. chronos at just over 3100fps, jumped from a 7.5twist 30" 5r bartlein about mid way through its life.
