As we all know sometimes we have to shoot our FTR rifles in FO in some comps. But sometimes we can forget just how well one of these can go in FO. In a comp today one was up against all the usual FO setups. From 6BR to 7 Saum. And went well to come in second 300y 60 with 7 500y 59 with 6 600y 60 with 4.
The humble 308 can still surprise..
A well setup FTR Rifle can hold its own!!!!

Re: A well setup FTR Rifle can hold its own!!!!
That doesn't surprise me at all Michael. A few months ago I analysed the stats of all 2014 Queens shoots (as the basis of the latest MCSI tables), and the general performance level of FTR was closer to F-Open than to F-Std. Particularly as F/TR numbers grow, I expect that occasionally someone will have a blinder and outscore F-Open in a Queens. It used to happen with F-Std too - I remember winning the Vic Queens F-Open in 2010 - some of the gloss was taken off it by Bruce Kneebone who in winning F-Std pipped me by a point
BTW congrats to whoever it was. And good shooting for the metric ranges tomorrow

Yes they are more than able to do it . I suppose when they get stuck in the field with all the wonderful array of Fopen cals you just assume that they will get carried away by them..
With a 185 gr ( or there abouts ) they go well. The cheap mans Fopen rig
Thanks Michael H
