One of the quiet achievers in our sport did this at a recent 500m fly shoot. Congrats to Malcolm Hill, and thanks Richard Steel for the pic.

That's why Malcolm is known as the Master.
His ability with the 223 is unsurpassed.

It was a good old .223 with close on 7000 rounds through it, a Kreiger 1 in 7 medium palma on an Omark with 80gn Amax.
Regards Malcolm.

The target was actually shot at 500 yards, not metres, at a night fly shoot and believe it or not I was aiming off half way out to the edge of the rings either side for wind changes. A few flags had lights shining up the poles so you could sort of see them but the breeze on the side of the face was probably just as useful. The rifle had been shooting brilliant elevation during the day but it was a real surprise to see the target come back with all shots in the middle.
Regards Malcolm.

Nice hit Malcolm. You forgot to mention but I assume you were shooting off the bipod as usual. (FTR style)

Hi Lynton
It was just my normal set up with bi-pod and rear bag. Just got lucky with the wind calls as I couldn't see the 223 holes on the target like you can with the 308 ones. It's about time you put in an appearance at the Port and had a bash at it yourself. It's great fun trying to hit the fly at night and you can have more than one round at it but it is only the first go that counts for the prize.
Regards Malcolm.

Malcolm, would dearly love to give it a crack but unfortunately Pt Augusta OPM weekend in right in the middle of seeding. Might have to get some Fly targets and give it a go at our range.
