Anybody running lighter projectiles for the short ranges? say up to 600yds & then using 185gn+ for the longs in the same chambered barrel.
What are you using??

155's and they still reach the lands. :D
Very good video showing great technique and great use of stickers to pimp a rifle. Not sure that I like the way that music is played on the firing line at Lower Light but it does seem to relax the shooters.

If the chamber is throated for the 180's wouldn't the throat be too long for the 155 Bergers?? or do you jump them heaps? I've never jumped them more than 13thou.

Have seen them hammer with 20 thou jump. Very forgiving bullet.

Geoff, the 155.5 is not that fussy so it will shoot in a long throat even seated close to the lands, there is most likely a lenght that will shoot both.

There is a length that works well for both. SG shoots both the 155's and 185's with his reamer and both are extremely accurate. Don't know the exact length but design your reamer so there are just a couple of mm of engagement with the 155 Hybrid - then the 155.5, 155 VLD, HBC, 185 Hybrid and Juggernaughts etc etc should all work.
My chamber is too long for the 155 hybrids and 155.5's but is fine with VLD and HBC (also Lapua Scenar if FTR) so I shoot those.

I have such a chamber but have not tried 185s so I won't make any claims apart from there is a good chance it will work for both, will have to chase up some 185s

So it seems like the 185 bergers the projectile of choice for the heavies?

They're certainly popular. I've had a modicum of success with 210SMKs and 208AMaxs.
