Hello all, my first post on here. I was introduced to the site by John Brownrigg who some of you may know. Anyway, back to the question. I/we would like to know if anyone has any loads for the 308 in a 32" Tru-Flite barrelled Omark using ADI powders 2208, 2206 or even I s'pose 2219. John shot the rifle recently using 155gn Dyers and 45.3gns of 2208 which is a load I use in my own Omark with a 26" Black Mountain barrel with outstanding results. In the 32" barrel however, it appears that the bullets were really steaming along to the point of overstabilisation. The groups it was throwing at 300 were somewhat like buckshot out of a riot shotgun! Which brings me back to the question, does anyone have any loads for us to try as the rifle is much more than capable (as is John!!) but it just needs some fine tuning in the load department.

In my omark with a 30" Kreiger i have been using 46gr 2208 or 44.5 of 2206H with no problem, perhaps you should put through a few 155 factory rounds to see if there could be other problem.

I use both sierra and dwyer projectiles, BR2 or 210 match primers,lapua cases and not had any problems to date.

With that length barrel 2208 should theoretically be better than 2206. I'd try 5 shot groups with the Dyers at 5 or 600 yds starting at about 45gns 2208 and working up about 0.3gns at a time until you get pressure signs. If there is no good group, try the other projectile (Sierra) with the same series of powder charges. Then pick the best one of all and try 5 shot groups with 3 or 4 different seating depths.

If accuracy is still poor you might have a fouling problem - if there is obvious copper fouling try moly, either as a bore paste or on your projectiles or both.

Could you give us some help with the disagnosis. How much work has the tru-flite barrel done,(do you know?) Have you had it looked at by a reputable gunsmith? Regarding throat, rifling and crown condition.
I ask, because the loads you mentioned don't appear that abnormal/far-off what I or many of my club mates are using.
My own Mab actioned and tru-flite barreled rifle is performing very well, (especially since I had the barrel worked on by a gunsmith in Melbs Sth East) using dyers 155's ahead of 2208.
