Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone here has used the above projies for target work in there 6mm rifles. If so how did they perform and where did you get them from?

Regards,

Shaun

Hi Shaun.
I tried them in a .243AI but I could not get them to shoot.
I switched to B VLDs in 115g and no problem getting them to do as told, I still use them as my go to load, I push them HARD from a 32" 1:8 Broughton 5c.
I originally purchased 1000 of the D Tacs and I think whats left is on there third owner by now, as different guy's try and reject them. I am not saying they are bad just that I could not get them to work.
The only other thing the pills did arrive with the Boron Nitride Coating perhaps this was a reason I don't know.

I got them from Shooters about 2 years ago

Dont berger recommend a 7 twist for them? 8 twist might be marginal for stability.

Brad, yes they do but I've heard that the DTAC can be run in a 8T.

Gadget,

Cheers for the info mate. It would be worth a shot I think but I don't wanna get a ton to try. Ill see how the bullets that I have go with my rifle first and then go from there. I've seen many guys in the US who have 6x47 L seem to like the DTAC but could be to do with there environmentally and alike perhaps.

Yeah I know but the extra weight could help perhaps. Just wondering really.

I have used the DTAC's, they were developed by Tubb to suit the XC case which has a little more capacity than the 6x47. I used them with a dodgy bedded rifle and they grouped very well. 6 shots into 1 hole @ 100 yds. I haven't used them since the rifle has been rebedded. They showed enough for me to try again. Jamming them in .0015" worked best for me. The DTACs I have were imported from Tubb, but he's a little difficult to buy from now. You need an exporter in the states to help. And no I'm not selling any right now. I believe the 115gn Bergers go well in the XC case as well.
I'm using a 1:8 twist but have another barrel 1:7.75 that is supposed to be the right twist barrel for the DTACs.

I was considering making them from a J4 jacket, but the 115gr are just a bit too specialised.

Push them too hard and they come apart in the fast twist barrel. Tubb specifically requested Sierra make them with a thick jacket.

I'm not sure which wall thickness J4 jacket Berger are using, but the thin jackets are the only ones commercially available. Drawing down a thicker jacket from a larger calibre is possible, but still might not work.

I tried them along with 115 Bergers in 2 different 8" twist 6x47s. They didn't go very well, likely due to the very marginal stability in the 8" twist.

Gents,

Cheers for you info. Sounds like they could be more hassle then they are worth. Ill stock with 105gr class then I think.

Thanks a bunch for the info.
