I heard someone drove a Great Wall ute from Wodonga to Rosedale via the Dargo High Plains in a rainstorm and had to tow out a couple of Landcruisers

And regarding the 5 60s in a row, I heard it was also done over 300, 300, 600, 600, 700 metres at the NSW Queens (with a 6BR

).
One record I would like to claim is I must be the only one to keep a sighter 6 then get 9 Xs for a 60.9 TWICE

!

I've also had this painful 60.9 experience in Fstd Alan.
Congrats to the 5 x 60 shooter, from whatever the ranges were.

I've seen that done here Alan, but not twice. The person was offered the chance to fire another shot just to see but they declined out of respect for their sanity or potential loss thereof.

Alan,
Have you heard of the old adage: NO GUTS NO GLORY
You're just going to have to start cutting Centers for sighters
Well done on a great weekend shoot!
Cheers,

I would like to know what happened on the last range, a 57 I believe it was?
Some sort of equipment failure, or did the conditions change?

Next time we get sighters that go 6,X we must all confidently call out "ONE ON"

And a few years ago, if someone got a 60, people would give a bit of a clap.
Now you have to put lots of 60s together to raise an eyebrow.
The times, they are a changing.
p.s. Was this with your Raton barrel Alan? Or was it you not so good barrel?

So would I - probably fouling. One was out the top, two at 5 o'clock - all would have scraped in if elevation was good. Pity because its unlikely we'll get those good conditions throughout the two days again soon, so a chance to create history at the range went begging.

Rod,
The 1:9 Maddco that likes Berger 168s was tucked into bed immediately after the NSW Queens, not to see the light of day till Raton

I'm using the 1:9 Krieger 32" in the steel stock (barrel clamped ). Its too ugly to give you a picture

. It likes the Berger 180 hybrids, and so do I! They're very forgiving in the wind.
I see the 6.5mm Berger 140 hybrid is available now, supposedly with a BC as good as the 7mm Berger 168s. Might be just the ticket for your Gertrude. I have a Broughton 6.5mm barrel ordered

.

great shooting (again) Alan. I was going to throw some line in that you better put that barrel away for Raton and leave it at home when you come to Mackay but if this is your "second" barrel what hope do we have.

Hi Alan
I'm a bit slow to post but I can match your 60.9 twice, I did it on Saturday super first, six second for two on then cleaned the target for a 60.9, I had two rounds left in the box so the boys said right smart ass put the last two in, so I did 11x's in a row. 300 mts
Then I did it again in the second detail super, six, clean. lol and put the last two in again for 10 x's in a row, the last was a 6 bummer
I'll take the 60.9 any day, I do not think I would ever cut a 6.
Graham
PS the best laugh is that was with a F/F load for the .243 Ai

Dave,
The barrel is quite good, but the main reason for the 60s was the high BC projectile, even at the shorts. The wind changes weren't huge, but enough to put an HBC into the 5 ring. This graph tells the story (note that the 7mm velocity is considerably less than the 308).

Graham,
Nicely done - yes I agree - not worth cutting sixes unless in very unusual circumstances e.g. given up hope on the aggregate, but want to take home some glory
