G'day everyone,
For those planning on making the trek north for NQRA Queens and/or state team shoots in May please note there are some very exciting prize shoots around the same time (go on - you may as well make a holiday of it!).
Dates:
1st May (Tues): Marian Prize meeting (Mackay)
2nd-3rd May : Australian Rifle womens State Teams (Mackay)
4th - 7th (Fri- Mon): NQRA Leadup and Queens (Mackay)
8-9th May (Tue-Wed): F class State team championships
26th May (Sat) Mossman OPM (shot in conjunction with Cairns)
27th MAy (Sun) Cairns OPM
9th-11th Jun (Sat -Mon) Townsville 3 day OPM.
A great month of shooting to be had and just enough time between shoots to do some sightseeing (and reloading). Go on - Hook up the caravan you know you want to do it!

Hi Dave,
Do you have any info on the format of NQRA and State teams event's
eg ranges to be shot at.
I'm trying to work out ammo requirements for both events.

Good Question Gadget - I will ask the NQRA office to post something on their website after the new year or at least give me the information to relay back to here. It is probably safe to assume the Leadup and Queens program is similar to last year. Not sure on the teams events.
Stevens Griffiths Match 600yards* 15, 800m * 15, 300 yards * 10 (They shoot short range last to avoid shooting into the sun) so 40 + 6 sighters. for leadup
NQRA queens. Day 1 300,500,600 (yards)
Day 2 600,600, 700 (yards)
Day 3 800m 800m (metres) all 10 shot matches so 80 + 16 sighters
Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave
Are my eye's playing up or do you have both metric and imperial distances to be shot at ??
It could be very easy to make a mistake switching from 600 Yrd's to 800Mt's

and back to 300 yrd's in the lead up.
Graham
I did a search and found this, I should have look before I asked sorry

No mistake - everything in yards until the 800m (longest range on course).
Must bring come ups for yards and metres!!

Dave

Its been 800m and other ranges in yards for several years Graham. I don't know the full story, but I'd say bananas would have to be involved?

I don't know the full story either (Perhaps John can chime in here) but believe the original range was in yards then they added the 800m line just in front of clubhouse at a later date (Don't think 900yds would fit).

Dave,
The ad on page 50 doesn't mention F-Open. If there's a few interested, perhaps they'll add it to the program?
Actually they just say F Class - maybe that includes F-Open

?

Alan, considering the F class teams events and Queens are expecting 30-40 F open shooters in the area a week later I don't think it will take much of a twist of the arm??? First step would be a few to call the organisers to express interest. There is a couple of people here that would be interested.
Numbers are on page 50 of ATR. Please anyone in the area for the teams think about giving them a call.
Cheers,
Dave
