I am using 2206h powder, 80 grain A max, for a tikka t3 stainless varmit- 26 inch barrel 1 in 8. I am loading 24.5grains and seating 5 thou back, still getting inconsistent results...does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

As much as its expensive to run, try the 80gr SMK.

when i shot 223 i used a-max without much success. i sold my 223 and gave f class away for awhile. the person i sold it to couldnt get acceptable results with them as well, he was told to try nosler which he did with much better grouping and scores.

I shoot 80gn AMax's seated 10 thou into the lands. 25.2 of 2208 and the thing is a tack driver. Maddco 26" barrel on Rem 700 action. .. AMax's dont like jump so try seating them into the lands. Obviously dont start at 25.2 but work up from where you are now. I think you'll notice a big difference.

Some loads that have worked for me, note all with 80 smk an 30" barrel
1. 25.2 of 2206h seated 5 thou off lands
2. 25.4 of 2208 seated 25 thou off lands ( this is the pet load that works in most barrels but you can work up to about 25.8
I had a hart barrel that love 26g but it didn't last long it was a bit to hot.
Iv done a lot of test with amax with no luck.
Hope this helps
