richard's new stolle

saw richard's new stolle panda fclass action today.
first thing to catch the eye was the finish. inside and out immaculate.
while looking (holding) the lack of weight was apparrent.
on top is an integral 20 moa tapered base, in this case picatinny. no more crooked bases for richard.
barrel thread was extremely well executed as it should be, and the bolt, although new, moved smoothly.
the right lug held a post 64 type extractor, easy to remove and replace, yet extremely reliable. left lug conained a mechanical ejector. nothing to go wrong here, and its use is optional, depending on how far the bolt is moved to the rear.
the huge flat bearing surface on the bottom of the action makes for easy inletting and bedding, and the big recoil lug is where it should be, under the receiver ring.
all machine work would suggest that everything is true and square,as is the well established reoutation of anything to come out of kelbly's. they have a rock solid reputation of being rugged, reliable, accurate and strong. and kelbly's have a reputation of standing behind their products, even if it's the wrong colour.
and it just looks good.
richard has the heart of a fine rifle here, one that will make him proud and last him well.

Great actions. I just wished they still made the big Polar Action. About 14" long.

Still rather my BAT though

We have a big cyclone coming, could be one coming here too :D

adam,
trust you to bite.
stolle actions have been around longer than bats, so one would expect them to be more experienced at wind reading.
on a more serious note, they are both fine actions.
pride of workmanship is obvious in them and those american br actions are all of sound proven design. their basic concept is correct, and they suit fclass superbly.

No harm in voicing ones opinion on a quality product, word of mouth is certainly the best type of advertising, all the actions mentioned in this post are ones I'd be happy to use, I'd also have no hesitation using a Barnard or RPA either, OOPS sorry advertising again !!!!

lynn,
there's a rumour going around that adam is going to sell his small stiller to get another bat.
that might suit your new barrel well.
woody,
i'm not advertising anything, just reporting what i saw. actually i use a nesika bay, and like it a lot. so much so that i would buy another.
it has been around the traps for some time now. i still have in the safe a sleeved remington as well.
matt,
you seem to be warming toward these things!

Was this thread about 3 lug actions?

I hope dear Richy has a NEW barrel screwed into it, not one of his SCREWED barrels.

I am looking forward to seeing the action fitted to one of the stocks Richard is producing, as well as competing with him in the new year.

OOps, no I do not have an interest in Richards Stocks, I have just seen one and "I liked what I seen."

Cheers
Paul

Rumpelstiltskin. (watch out for that one)

Yes Bruce it was a bit below the belt, it is another way of of looking at a rear locker. Raven i think its time you up date your gear being done by a novice at ACT queens is a bit rough.

nah seriously it should be good! a whole lot of thought and EXPERIENCE put into its design from the ground up.

can it beat the POHLAXE and Pest Bird? . . . depends on how sammy the short action ultra mag shapes up

stiller predator on the market? everything is for sale at a price bruce :D
