To every one else thanks.

Iwant to build a top class firearm, that will reach out to 1000mtrs.
And am not afraid to spend some dosh to achive My aim.
I have being studing this subject for over a year so I have enough
info to confues My self(dont you just love this rifle shooting).

Ihave the following qs,please bear with Me.

Q1. should I stick with a 308 ,and can it be built as a GENUINE 1000mtr
rig.

Q2.Iam still leaning toward 6.5-55 swedish(ref rifle shooter may/june vol12 issue3 tactical titans top cals for long range)

Q3.is the 30-06 a cal that "fits"between 308 and 300mag,and would it be a good long range choice

Many thanks in advance.

Celtic,

I don't think you should consider .308 unless its for either F-Std or Match Rifle competition where you have little choice. .30/06 is better for F-Open, but in my opinion if you are going to use a heavier calibre, you'll get more BC (less affected by wind) for your recoil with a 7mm.

If you stick with the Swede and you do everything right, it will be a very competitive calibre, and reasonably economical.
