Hello All

Just a quick question, say you have a Tikka rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor and want to replace the barrel are you allowed to chamber the new barrel in a cartridge that isn't a factory offering from Tikka and shoot in PCO?

Example changing from a 6.5 Creedmoor to a 6 Dasher?

Going off 23.3 I think it needs to be a factory offered chambering. I could be wrong though someone who writes or enforces the rules might say different.

I think that only relates to PC. PCO can be any chambering or twist you want.....have at a 22 Cheetah or a 6mm-284......let your imagination run wild.

So in short PCO limits are
7.5kg total gun weight with accessories attached
Up to 1kg rear bag with no ears allowed
Mass produced factory action
Barrel up to 27” long and 0.9” at the muzzle
Max 25x magnification used on the scope
Bipod must be foldable

Did I miss any?

Personally I would not change a 6.5 creedmore to a 6mm dasher, I would see that as a backwards step. But then thats why I got a 6.5 PRC :) I just feel that 6mms get moved around a bit more in the wind.

Not sure if this one applies to both PC and PCO:

Width between bipod feet when legs unextended no more than 14"/35cm

I believe that restriction applies to both (as does everything else not specifically under the PC and PCO subsections in the SSRs)

Since the revised rules came in I’ve dabbled in shooting my PCO rifle in F Open. I bought it 4 years ago before the new rules were introduced and maybe wouldn’t have chosen a 12-42 scope if I’d known about the impending changes. Also have a mini Protektor rear bag that seems to be the perfect height for a couple of different slopes while the new rules compliant one is not as versatile. I reckon the next step should be for PCO to use the harder scoring of F Open/Std. I expect to be rebarreling my rifle next year but don’t think I’d change from 6.5CM. Most of my future improvement is in wind and mirage reading

If the scoring goes to 6 and X you might think differently, as you will have a tougher time than FOpen with a tighter target. I'd be picking a calibre that has the maximum possible wind 'reading' ability built in.

I’m confused- I was thinking the F Open scoring and tighter target would be the hardest option

Exactly, you're thinking harder target, then limiting yourself to 6.5CM using a rifle that has limitations compared to FOpen. Have a look and see how many FOpen shooters use 6.5 CM.
