Newbie Help
hey all.... i started out hunting with mates and got a feel for shooting. i wanted to get into the sport so i went out and bought myself a howa 1500 with a stainless barrel and a 3 - 9 x 42 gold crown scope in a package. now i ended up having more fun trying to hit stuff out as far as my scope would let me see. i recently went to a antique and firearm show and they had a stand there for long range shooting. i would really like to get into the sport and am wondering if my .243 is going to be any good for the sport or will i have to go and purchase a new rifle.
any help would be apreciated
thanx guys.

Gday Nick,
I was one of the people manning that stand on Sat.
Did u grab any information on the relevant clubs etc?? The 2 main clubs that will be able to accommodate you are the CTV club at the lower light range and the Murray bridge rifle club at the monarto range.
Both clubs will welcome you to the range. At MBRC, we are shooting 400m next Sat...1pm start. Try PM'ing RAVEN on this forum as he will be able to advise of CTV's upcoming shoots.
With regard to rifle, it is best to speak to people at the clubs and see what people are using.
Hope this helps

Howa243`
Welcome Howa243
Great to see a possible new member to our sport ( or should I say Adict)
Make sure when you go to the range don't be backwards in coming forwards
Ask to look through the scopes of the other shooters and see what good optics can do for you.
A lot of shooters will even offer you a few shoots from thier rifle just to give you the feel of a true F Class kit.
But by all means have a go with your 243 and meet up with some of the most genuine people you will find. We all welcome new comers at any range.
Good Luck

Hi Nick
If you can not make it to the morning shoot we will be shooting at 400 meters in the afternoon. Unfortunately you will not be able to shoot your rifle as it has to be sighted in under club supervision (proved) . But you are welcome to come along, if I'm there, which I should be, you are welcome to shoot a course of fire with one of my rifles.
Do you know where the Monarto Shooting Complex is?
Cheers

Nick
Hold on before you buy anything, come out on Saturday and you will soon learn what is needed equipment wise.
To get to MBRC follow south eastern freeway, take the Monarto exit, turn right which takes you over the freeway and keep going, the road will turn to unsealed road . you will see a road on the left which is sign posted to Monarto shooting complex, follow it to the end , turn left and follow it into the complex, MBRC is the last club towards the freeway.
Ask for me Paul Janzso
Cheers
