When you can’t even get an F-Class rifle to shoot…
Sweet Jesus - how hard could this be?

“I’ll check it out and get back to you mate” ….

Then never hear from them again… like WTF?

Not too sure how to answer this but I’ll give it a go

Good Fclass rifles are rare to buy ready to go , usually it needs to be built from carefully selected components and can take up to 2 years depending on availability of parts , and gunsmith availability. Patience is required most cases .

Hopefully we see you on the mound
Cheers

VRA has Howa 308 barreled actions for $599 (also have 6mm & 6.5mm creedmoors)
Howa stock for $550
20MOA rail $120
Get a madco barrel for around $1100
Seen a Sightron 10-50 scope on here for about $1400
Fclass rifle for under $4k
Just need to be willing to look, start cheap and upgrade along the way
Or they have BERGARA PREMIER SHORT ACTION 308 for $1850 but would need to get a stock made

I don’t mind waiting Chechen but i can’t even get started…

They are all like - I’ll call you back mate - then thats the last you hear of them - like wtf
The only guy that rang back and had a good chat to was from WA - but he wasn’t going to buy in any parts because he’s not sure he’ll even have a business after the new Labor Gun Laws that they are pushing through…

up, or across ? SH is a little harder to shoot (hold) but the bar is lower on wind reading .... I dont think F class is necessarily 'up'

If you want to build any kind of standard/FTR/Open gun its going to a minimum 12 months at the moment. There is a Bat advertised on here set up for open ready to go. The money is right and the gun is a performer. Cheapest and quickest way into it.

Its an open rifle - im not wanting to go into Class Wars - the “person” with the deepest pockets wins

F/Standard , every rifle and bulllet is basically the same - so shooting and reloading skills win

Anyways

Everyone has proved what im saying about F Class - you can’t get a gun for 12 to 24 months

How can you grow a sport when the up and coming marksmen can’t get a Rifle ???

Almost everybody in Sydney has a great F standard 308. Alot of them are chambered by a couple of well known gunsmiths. They shoot x's. The guy that wins F standard has better wind reading skills and the self control to wait until the wind is steady. So its a skill thing . They have all paid 5 grand for their rifle, nearly all the rifles are good.

I bought my 12yo daughter an Omark model 44 223 for $1000 with a 12-42x56 nightforce benchrest scope on it, sold the scope for $800 and put a Sightron SIII PLR 10-50X60 on it that cost me $2300, total cost of her rifle was $2500
I spent time doing load development with Berger 80.5gr pills.
You don’t need to spend $5K plus to get a F-std rifle that shoots well

F standard is fairly comparable to open with regards to set up costs. Components are only mildly more expensive. You can shoot a 6BR and that would be cheaper to run than a 308. You don't have to wait 12 months to buy a gun. You can go and buy a Remington, Tikka or Howa varmint rifle and shoot standard with that like I did when I started. I used a sporterised Omark off a harris bipod and bought factory NRAA ammo.
If you are talking about competing with the best, then that is a completely different thing. I don't think you'd get much change out of $10k setting up to compete at that level if you had nothing. Good luck with your search. Keep your eyes in the For Sale listings and something might come up.

Throw a new barrel on it and a better scope, here are a few not yet marked as sold and depending on how much you wish to spend

Add a front plate and you have an F std Rifle ready to go for $3000-$4000
