I think it is the bulb! The old Mag light never lasted long unless you used 1.2v rechargeable batteries.

I just swapped out the original incandescent torch with an LED Mini Maglite 2 cell. A 3 cell would also fit but the added length may be cumbersome. The cone shaped piece that connects to the Hawkeye just swaps over.
One point though, sometimes the LED is too bright and washes out what you are viewing.

Just buy the LED upgrade kit to suit the mini maglight. I've had one in mine for several years and it makes a huge improvement in determining what needs to be cleaned out of a barrel. Regards Malcolm.
