Hi Bruce
I have a 6BR it's great but would like a bit more MV.I would probably go with the BRX as you don't have to use custom dies as the shoulder is blown foward 0.100" at the same angle where as the dasher gets blown forward @ a 40 degree angle but both have very short necks. The other I would concider is simply Ackley Imp the standard case that way you get to keep the long neck ,the only thing I have against the BRX & dasher is the very short neck, it probably makes no difference in the real word but I still like to have a long necked case.Average MV 6BR 2850fps the BRX & Dasher 3000fps both with 30' barrels.
Hope this helps.

Yeah got one of those too.No problem with MV about 3100fps but the accuracy isn't as good. When I say isn't as good I probably mean isn't as consistant where as you can rely on the BR to shoot 0.5 moa the Ackley will do it but IMO not as often.Barrel life sux about 1200-1500 competitive
rounds (also no point rechambering I have worn out 2 barrels both around 1500 rounds and there is no rifling for the first 3") where as the BR should get 2500 and should still have enough barrel to rechamber. It's a good caliber but I don't think overall it gives any advantage over the BR it may give a slight advantage @ the longs with MV but looses out @ the shorts in accuracy.
I think John Lorimer shot both at the Queensland Queens hopefully he could give his opinion.

hi matt
this would put tubby's 6xc, & keith's 6hi somewhere in between, but with the disadvantage of large rifle primers?
thanks,
bruce.
p.s. is the 260 rem known to be any less finicky than 6.5/284?

I am not convinced of the 'superiority' of small primers in a case this size. They can be a pain in the butt at times.

I like the case capacity of Keith's HI I recon it's just about perfect and the design IMO is also very good long neck, minimum body taper and 40 degree shoulder. As to the LR primer I think the advantage in the SR primer is in the small flash hole not the primer. The Tubb is designed to feed from a magazine which is a non problem for us and I don't like tapered cases that's why most of my stuff is AI.The 260 can be less finicky but the 6mm's are much easier to get right IMO.Most BR's run about 30 gr of 2208 seated into the lands and the 243AI most will shoot with 42 gr of 2209 seated into the lands. With both of these calibers, my guns and most people I know shoot very well without much stuffing around.

Just wondering which gunsmiths have the 6BRX reamer. I am about to rechamber a 6BR barrel and am thinking of giving the BRX a go.
Any help would be appreciated

Cameron,

Bill Hallam in Perth has a 6BRX reamer. I think he is the current F-Open national champ. He has built a couple of benchrest rifles for me when he was living in Vic. Dont have his contact details at the moment, but someone in Perth shold know. I can highly recommend him. Would like to try out the BRX myself.

Regards,

Darren

Cameron,
I have just recently got a 6brx reamer to do a couple of rifles for customers in the benchrest seen. Will more than likely get a far bit of use its not a bad looking round. Its not a dasher but is close to it. Let me know if you are interested.

Thank you Matt P.
There is some good information on the 6BR site, also with regards to neck tightness. It seems tight necks and turning case necks is a thing of the past. Just load up using Lapua brass and away you go.
The 6BRX case is interesting , as you can use standard 6BR dies and 3,000fps is atainable with the 105gn and 107gners.

The 260REM? is it good ? or as some one mentioned is it a lot of work to get right?

Cheers
PJ

The dasher is another case worth looking at. It gets more velocity than the BRX and you can get ies from redding including a full length die.
You can't get a full length die for a BRX.
Just my thoughts
