Harris bipod height for SH competition

Post by bartman007 »

Hi All,

From experience what are you using at the range in club competition?

Basically there are a few ranges:
1. 6 to 9 inches
2. 9 to 13 inches

And should I consider getting the Swivel model?

Or should I steer clear of the Harris brand and buy something better?

Any ideas greatly received.

I'm currently using an Atlas PSR Standard Height

For the little shooting I've done off it at Castlemaine, Karramomus and Nagambie, I've found the height and adjustment to be comfortable and simple. Very stable bipod. They're pricier than the standard Harris, but still well within the rules.

Height will depend on your style of shooting , most important is you’re comfortable at the butt end , and this varies from big to little people accordingly . I would definitely get swivel option that locks up where you want it . I have both Atlas and Harris both work fine for me

If you can free up the coin, an Atlas Cal Gen 2 is your best bet.
I have been running a 6-9 Harris but pressure on the sling stud is pulling it out of the timber so I upgraded to an Area 419 rail and Atlas.
6-9 is plenty, any taller and you will require a big bag, rules for the bag weight will heavily disadvantage you....

Brilliant advice all.

I'll see what is available, and possibly have a try at the range to see what suits.

Cheers

I have three Harris swivel bipods here the one I use the most 9 to 13 the shorter one is just too short most of the time but I'm a bit of a fat bugger .
now I really don't get all the hype on these Atlas bipods I borrow one off a friend for a couple of months I actually forgot I had it sick and tired of pushing buttons to drop legs with a Harris just reachout pull down i found the atlas no more accurate I just found them clunky and loose at least they Harris sets up firm with no play.
Just my opinion
