As per the subject heading, how have you done it?
What have you found to be successful, and just as important - what hasnt worked?
Keen to get ghis up and running in Darwin - so what say you?
How can we all learn from each other?
Cheers,
Dave.

For non competitive weekly club shoots our members bring whatever they want and shoot against themselves this is how we started off . As time went by some members upgraded to suitable factory rifles as per SSR rules to comply with SH in an OPM comp event .
Club level We allow brakes , chassis , etc , anyone can join in really most just want to have fun usually testing loads or getting elevations , but we make new shooters aware that their setups may not comply with SSR rules before they think of entering a comp . We have days where there are more hunting rifles than target ones or they bring both . Definitely has built up our membership numbers allowing new ones to participate along side the rest of us whether it electronic targets , gongs or paper .
Best of luck

What about advertising?
What have found to actually work?
Personally, I detest the reliance of “Farcebook” as a advertising medium.

Mackay run SH on a weekly basis.
Mackay also just ran SH for their 2022 OPM. It attracted the largest field of entrants across all the grades.
Two women shooters one who’s a junior, another junior lad and a heap of blokes from clubs spread across 1000 kilometers, all converging in Mackay for a great comp. The junior women/girl, was my daughter and I’m proud to say she took out a range win on day 2 and the day 2 aggregate, shooting a factory Tikka/GRS rifle in 6.5 Swede.
So while there’s a whirlwind of rubbish going on about rules, none of that reared it ugly head at Mackay and everyone had a great comp.

Plenty factory rifles are capable ,picking a good cartridge is the key , the 6.5 Swede is probably one of the best allrounders along side 308 7-08 270 30-06 probably others as well

308 for beginners or non-handloaders, they can buy club ammo hopefully. 308 is an excellent all rounder
Any full size 6.5mm for handloaders. creedmore, swede, prc. (ammo is a bit expensive to buy loaded)
I think 223 is a bit light and I have not seen many 7mms. There are probably some 6 creeds out there i guess.

6Creed is definitely a hot contender; Vic Kings was won with a 6 Creed. As long as the wind isn’t too harsh, it’ll get the job done quite easily.
I shoot a 223 at the moment, because my muzzle braked 308 is shunned in most places, and I’ve been on the podium in most shoots, managed plenty of 50s at 500/600yd, even a 50.10 at 500 in horrid conditions. But it’s a long stretch from a standard rifle too, with good handloads and development done.
223, 6.5Creed or 308 is definitely the entry level way to go. Factory loads are readily available in match grade without breaking the bank and they’re competitive as anything with the right steering. Just comes down to how much recoil you want to tolerate.

You can rightly be proud of that ... I dont think any beginners will have those wind reading skills
