Parker Hale model??

Post by Finchy »

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone could help me with identifying the model of my Parker Hale .270 win. And also if I would be able to rebarrel in 6.5 prc. TIA

Looks like a safari deluxe? Mauser 98 derived, 6.5 PRC is a magnum boltface, probably easier to start with a modern action, unless that one is free you'll spend more than its worth with the gunsmith.

OK, thanks mate. Have owned the gun for 25 years and have noticed the accuracy take a dive in the last year or so and thinking of rebarrelling. I like the stat's on the 6.5 prc and was just wondering if it was worth building one or buying new. Cheers.

You could re-barrel it to a 6.5-06 if you had your heart set on a 6.5.

With the new bullets available now, recoil is the main advantage over 270, she's pretty capable especially if you are already set up with dies brass etc

After considering my options, I think I'll just rebarrell in the original. 270 win and maybe put the 6.5 prc idea on the shelf for awhile. Thanks for your input guys, cheers.
