Jongmans Action

Hi Folks, your thoughts please. I have been offered a brand new Jongmans action for $2600. I shoot F/std with a Jongmans and love it but it is getting a bit worn, 1982 verson. Would I be crazy to buy or should I build a new one? If a new one, what make of action/trigger/barrel should I look at? My budget would be around $4000, not including scope .

Cheers. Robin

If $4k is your budget, a good secondhand Barnard P would be a great option. They’re a very solid and reliable action and very common. Or even new, but new would set you back closer to $5k with a stock etc. standard trigger in that would be fine.
I highly recommend a Krieger barrel by David Brewster personally; we’ve run a bunch of these now and they’ve always keyhole-cut at 300yd in both 308 and 6BR.
My two cents and I’m sure others will have different ideas!

Is the $2600 for the action only ?? If so go the Barnard path, RRP for a PE action with trigger $2123.
I've had a few Jongmans through my shop and some of the issues I've seen, could never recommend one. In fact I'd recommend an Omark with an adaptor over it.
Give me a call if you'd like any more info.
