The Darling Downs rifle association held its OPM last weekend on the parched earth a couple of hours west of Brisbane. One huge shout out has to go to 12-Year-old ( a guess on age ) Mia Lowe from the Goondiwindi club shooting an older 223 rem may be an Omark with a homemade bagrider unbranded scope and a good couple of kilos underweight, she managed to beat all comers with a grand arg of 344.17 the closest A grader with many more years experience and a full custom gun had a score of 342.16. Anyone who thinks you have to spend a lot to be competitive in OPM meets would have been surprised.
To see this girl set her self up on the mound carry all her own gear up and shoot so well well was the highlight of the weekend for me other notable highlights were Ashley Bidgood not dropping a point, Tony Berry ( A Williada follower) arriving on Sunday and showing us how F open should be shot. The organizers did well to get the finiky silver mountain targets to work with some frustration and problems.
Her dad Frog Lowe must be a proud father.
